About
Henry Glover (B. 1997) Oxford, England
My practice is deeply rooted in storytelling, drawing inspiration from myth, folklore, and history to construct a kind of fiction that explores themes of intimacy and vulnerability. I seek to elevate quiet, unsaid moments, those fleeting and often overlooked emotions and transform them into something transcendental. Through oil painting and ceramics, I create a space that functions as both a territory and a stage, breaking down the complexities of human relationships and the emotions that emerge in everyday life, as well as in my own personal experiences.
I work across oil paint and clay, with a particular focus on figurative painting for its rich narrative potential. My process is cyclical, moving fluidly between media, allowing for revelation and discovery through making. By intertwining traditional storytelling motifs with personal reflections, I aim to unravel the ways in which we find comfort in these inherited narratives. My work interrogates the nostalgia embedded within myth and folklore, recontextualizing these stories to reflect contemporary experiences. Through the use of symbolism, I disrupt familiar narratives - constructing a kind of visual theatre.
